Wow Mage Spells Guide
Mages are the Swiss Army knife of World of Warcraft. They can handle a number of annoying situations with ease, such as teleporting a group directly to far off places, and summoning up food and drink. They can also fill a number of roles in combat, and can be powerful in groups or solo.
The main weakness is they can only wear cloth armor. The phrase 'glass cannon' is a common with the mage. They have the most powerful damage dealing spells, and their area effect spells, can destroy large numbers without much trouble, but a strong fighter class can kill them with just a few hits in melee. For that reason, most mages travel with muscle.
My preferred build as a mage is a Frost/Arcane spec. It lets me keep enemies at a distance, while still dishing out good damage. I also work crowd control very well. If you like the idea of an "elemental nightmare" type of mage, a Frost/Fire mage can be fun. Just don't expect to have your mana last very long.
You will need to watch out for rogues. The most common role for a rogue in groups (in my experience), is spell caster assassin. If you spot a rogue sneaking around, I advise blasting him/her post haste.
The fun part of playing a mage is the flashy spells. You are worthless in close range combat, and will not hold up against any real damage. The only real tactic for a mage, is 'kill them first'. Mages are useful in groups, but other classes with better stamina can cover as ranged damage dealer, so don't be cocky. Mage is a fun and powerful class, as long as you learn to handle it properly.
